Julia, this is especially meaningful to read on this Memorial Day, 2018. I’m sure your love and caring for Col. Cobeil means so much to his family. 🇺🇸

    • Thank you, Sheila. ❤

Julia, thank you. Very touching. I’ve read about the bracelets, but I didn’t know about them when I was in high school. As a military spouse, you know what it’s about, and the importance of Memorial Day. Too many do not understand, and it’s just another holiday to be off work.

    • Yes, it saddens me that the military population has become so MARGINALIZED, to use a popular buzzword– so separated from the population at large. There is little understanding among civilians of what the military life involves, both good and bad. As a child I too was biased against the idea of living on a base or being part of a military family, but I can say in all honesty I would never have chosen for Jeff to be in private practice all those years. What the military involved for us in the way of sacrifice was more than compensated many times over. But if Jeff had been in combat, I might feel quite differently. On the plus side, to be a military spouse or active duty member is to have an instant connection with millions of others who understand, and to have a huge extended family of all sorts of people. The military was practicing diversity long before any other business or institution was doing it, and that has only grown over time.
