September Days

Have a seat and enjoy a perfect September day in Virginia Beach! 2013
…September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather,
And autumn’s best of cheer.
Don’t you just love this time of year, when the weather begins to cool down just enough to be refreshing, and that crisp hint of autumn is in the air? Jeff and I were talking recently about how the fall weather arrives earlier in Virginia than it does in Georgia or Tennessee. It seems almost exactly timed to coincide with Labor Day each year. There may be a few hot days after that, but they are much easier to bear when they are tucked in between the milder days.
Jackson described it quite well; September often brings ideal weather made even more pleasant by the pending excitement of a new school year and upcoming holidays. I love every season, but spring and fall are especially appealing because they offer relief from more extreme temperatures, along with the beauty of colorful flowers or leaves to dazzle the eyes.
I hope today finds you enjoying glorious weather that will energize and inspire you.

Good Morning Julia. Here at least today it’s finally feeling like fall. Almost had a Freudian slip and said alot like Christmas. I digress. As we speak now I’m speaking to Mary via Bluetooth in her car. She just arrived in Virginia to see our 3oldest grandson graduate from the U.S Army Quartermaster school for petroleum supply course.. He got married the day after his engagement when he graduated basic training. Next month he will be on his way to Korea for two years. Next month we have like formal function to go to. Hope all is well. Last month Marley had surgery and he’s in dog happy-go-lucky 🐕. Let me go find Mary on the road. Have a great day
Hi Raynard, thanks for checking in with me and not giving up on me when I’ve been so bad about staying in touch! Hope Mary enjoyed her time in Virginia. Give her my love and give Marley a hug for me as well. If you make any “cannonball runs” in this direction, be sure to let me know. Sooner or later, we’ll be able to meet up again somewhere. Til then, you guys take good care of each other! ❤
Good afternoon Julia. Just read your reply. I’m working overtime all this weekend. Getting ready for a former event this coming Saturday. I will be wearing a tuxedo. Then Mary goes away to Georgia for 5 days. I will be trying to get honey while you were gone to do list done. Check your email as I will send you some pictures of our trip. We visited the DuPont mansion called Winterthur last weekend. If my math is correct our friendship is now going into its 12th year.
Raynard, I will be looking for those photos! Try to get one of you in that tux if you can. To this day I still have not made it to the DuPont mansion, but I have not quit hoping to go there someday. Yes, your math is correct. Our friendship goes even father back than this blog, because I think we first met on Upper Room back in 2011, before we had any idea of Jeff’s cancer. WOW 12 years is a long time. But also a short time too, as in some ways, the time has slipped by– as the old saying goes, “time flies whether you’re having fun or not.” Jeff would say “now you are talking like an old person.” 🙂
Good morning, Julia!
September is the best. Nearly every day this month, I’ve noticed that the weather is “perfect!”
Susan, our September weather was mostly VERY hot. October has cooled off considerably, and today, though sunny, feels downright chilly. So far I’ve not yet broken out my long sleeve shirts, but I’m sure it won’t be long. Yes, I love autumn too!
Hi Julia,
The weather has been extreme this year in NW Florida. After having the coldest winter this year, followed by the hottest summer, since I’ve lived here, we will begin to see some relief from summer heat next week.
Truly hope you’re experiencing a more moderate situation (in all issues) and finding peace, comfort and joy! ❤️
Chris, moderation is here in the weather, but that’s about it– still feels like a mad rush so much of the time. I’m sure it’s partly because I’m getting too old for so many learning curves coming one right after another! Despite this, there is something about autumn, when nature itself slows down, that promises a slower pace with more cozy evenings and lazy dawns spent in fleece robes with hot tea in hand. I wish you a warmer winter than you enjoyed last year– though, as I’m sure you’re aware, there are some who would laugh at the whole idea of a hard winter in Florida. It reminds me of the time Jeff and I were in the Bahamas during a rare cold snap, when temperatures were in the mid 60’s, and we saw people bundled up– one guy in the straw market was even wearing a ski mask! It’s all relative.
