What we become

What a meaningful quote. It reiterates the point that we have a responsibility to live right. Little eyes are watching, learning, and doing. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I am so glad you like it! It’s encouraging and a bit sobering to realize how much kids pick up from us. They tend to do what they see us do, almost without realizing it. I find myself doing many of the things my parents did, for no real reason other than that I always grew up watching them do likewise. Good reason for us to pay close attention to what we are up to! We set an example whether we want to or not.

Julia, you presented a wonderful collage today. That looks like much wisdom and good character. Happy Father’s day to all! 🙂

Thank you Sheila! I am thinking of you today; I’m sure it’s a bittersweet day for Bill this year. I hope you have had a nice weekend and a lovely day.

Julia, many thanks. There were many remembrances shared yesterday and it felt very right! I recalled a Voice Quilt we presented to Dad on his 90th birthday. It was a beautiful wooden box that held a CD with over 100 personal birthday greetings and well wishes from family and friends, near and far, young and old. I know he enjoyed that evening and many times listening to those voices. 🙂

Wow Sheila, what a great idea! Believe it or not, I’ve never heard of such a thing but it’s a wonderful idea, and so much easier to do now than it would have been even a decade ago. There is something about hearing someone’s voice that made it worth the HUGE costs we used to pay for long distance phone calls! Yet another thing that has gotten easier for us today. I would love to put together a “Voice Quilt” for someone. My sister made an album of notes from friends for our parents’ 50th (15 years ago!!! Oh my!!) and it was wonderful. I learned things about my parents I had never known, as their friends shared stories. It would have been wonderful to hear their own voices.

What a perfect, and oh so true, quote!
    How are you doing, Julia?

Hi LB, it is great to hear from you! I am doing OK. Could be better, but could be worse too. How are you?

I’ve been thinking about you and wondering how all your men are, but also how YOU are holding up. Caregiving is truly challenging, no matter how much love is present.
I’m well, thank you!! One last procedure on the mouth in 4 weeks. Certainly nothing like what your family has endured, but I’m looking foward to being done!!

Thanks LB, some days I do better than others, but I’m learning as I go along, and I am still standing (at least most of the time). 😀

WOW, only one more procedure to go! That will be a great milestone to celebrate. I think what you have been through is amazing. None of these situations can really be compared to each other because each is so different (even two cancer survivors can have vastly different experiences) but having watched my family recover from a horrible car accident, I have no end of admiration for your courage. You are a great example for me!

Sometimes, more often than not, I ask myself, “what would dad do?”. I couldn’t have asked for a better compass in life than the example my dad left with me by the life he lived. I hope your family had a cheerful celebration on this special day.

I am so glad you had a wonderful father. I know so many people who don’t feel the same about theirs. We are truly fortunate that Father’s Day is a day of fond memories and appreciation for us. Hats off to ALL loving fathers!
