“The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world and the world at large.” — attributed to Confucius

In honor of Chinese New Year, I thought it would be appropriate today to feature this quote from one of the most famous philosophers of all time.  This blog was started to help me stay focused on all that is good, and it has made my world better to read through so many inspiring authors’ work in search of quotes to include here.  I hope that, in some small way, this has also made the world at large a bit brighter for those who stop by.  Thanks so much to everyone for the visits, comments, good wishes and prayers that have made the past few months easier to bear.  I hope you will continue to visit us here.  新年快乐 – Happy New Year!!

Your pictures and words are a bright spot at the beginning of my day and a gentle reminder that you need our prayers. I am praying for healing, strength, and joy for you and Jeff today. May God bless you and keep you….

    • Thanks Bobby, those are two of my goals in doing this blog (the main one being to keep myself focused in a positive direction). We really need and appreciate your prayers. It is so encouraging to be in touch with those who have “been there.” Love to you both.

  3. Happy New Year ~ thanks for the lesson in Chinese!

    • Thank you! I took a continuing ed course in Chinese and loved it – a complex and beautiful language, but much easier to speak than write (although I still know only a few spoken words). There is so much online that makes it easy to learn a few words in almost any language. Thanks for visiting.

      • I love learning new languages! This was so much fun! Thanks for sharing! I think it’s awesome that you’re learning Chinese! Good for you!

        • I love languages too. I’ve considered going back to graduate school in linguistics, but I probably couldn’t even get into a program…so I’ll just dabble and admire the many bloggers who are doing such a great job blogging in their second (or third) languages; amazing! Thanks for your encouragement.

          • When you are enduring a life changing event, sometimes you need a distraction in order to allow your mind to not be focused all the time on the illness at hand. At least that’s what I found when I was enduring breast cancer. So a class here and there would be helpful and allow your brain to grow as well. Hugs to you xo

            • How wonderful that you are a *survivor* of such an awful disease — I am always more hopeful when I hear from those who have been there and understand. Thanks so much for your positive remarks. I agree, keeping my brain active and growing will be crucial for us in the coming weeks, months and years. Thanks again.

    • Carla, so glad you like it – I wish I could see your students work and yes, I would have loved the Dancing Dragons. Thanks for being such a creative teacher!

  6. Not in some small way Julia, only big ways. The quotes you share, your words of wisdom, your thoughtful comments, all while going thru the most difficult time in you life is an inspiring gift. Thanks for all your visits too and for being part of my day.
