What is good

He has shown you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

One year ago today:

Even in Darkness

(written the day we received the most devastating diagnosis)

  1. I was one of many, a year ago who read and appreciated your fitting tribute to your husband. There have been times of “no comment” so as not to dim the brightness of the thought. (How, for example, can one comment on Micah 6:8?)

    • Yes, that’s long been a favorite verse of mine. With all the complex and sometimes convoluted navel-gazing we tend to do where spiritual matters are concerned, that verse cuts through the muck and gets right to the heart of the matter.

  2. cherie

I will keep ya’ll in my prayers. May God bless.

    • Thank you Cherie, I am convinced that the prayers are keeping us afloat right now. We really appreciate it!

  3. Imagine how far you’ve both come in a year…thanks for sharing your journey with us. xo

    • Thanks so much to all of you for sharing it with US. It is not what we would call a pleasure cruise, that’s for sure. And after today’s appointment I realize all the more that we have some awfully steep climbs ahead. BUT “grace has brought us safe thus far” and we will just keep hoping and trusting! We appreciate your words of encouragement!

      • Baby steps…just keep going! xo

        • Yes, that’s where I am now. Just one day at a time! Thanks for your encouragement. I mailed your cards today :-)>

  4. Peggy

    • Thank you Aunt Peggy. Hope you, Leverne and Sweetie are all doing well. We need and appreciate the prayers! Looking forward to the next time we can all be together. Love to you all!

  5. While your Bible quotes touch on the same theme, your photo’s are so different from each other. That terrible news must have been like a stab in the heart. Todays photo is so much lighter and brighter 😀 Is it coincidence that both photo’s are of water? I’ve always been comfortable by views of water even though I have a great respect for the power of it and sometimes danger you can be in if you aren’t careful. There’s not to many things that are as relaxing as floating on the water, eyes closed, maybe the sound of a bird saying hello on the way to meet friends.

    • I agree, water is totally calming in all its forms, even snow and ice if one doesn’t have to get out and drive in it. One of my favorite things to do is lie on an air mattress in the water, soaking up the sun. Too bad it turns out that lying in the sun is bad for us. I also love the sound of running water, creeks, rain, etc. We sleep with a white noise machine every night that makes the sound of rain. Matt has one too. I didn’t think about both those photos being water, but it’s probably not totally coincidental since I definitely gravitate to such photos for solace.
